Smoked Magikarp Pâté
Ready In:15 mins
This recipe begins with an ordinary Fish Pokémon called Magikarp. Magikarp (in the games) is rendered as useless. Its only attack is Splash which always does nothing (even bubbles do more damage than a splash of water)!
Magikarp can continue to use Splash until level 15 where it learns Tackle. At level 20 it evolves into Gyarados, the Atrocious Pokémon. Gyarados is a Water Flying dragon-like Pokémon that can also mega evolve to create a Water Dark Mega Gyarados using the Gyaradosite.
100g Cream Cheese
100g Crème Fraîche
200g Smoked Salmon
1 Lemon (zested and juiced)
1 tbsp Creamed Horseradish
2 tbsp Dill (finely chopped)
Crackers or Toast (to serve)
Cucumber rounds (to serve)
I’ve always wanted to make a pâté as I love it. I only recently tried it (in the past few years) and often am found buying a pack to try out different flavours. It never occurred to me that I could make it myself! As someone who also loves Salmon, my favourite fish to cook and eat, I thought my first pâté had to be a smoked salmon flavour.
I’m using inspiration from Magikarp to create this, not just because of the orange fish aspect but also the flavour. Magikarp is a Pokémon that is just an ordinary fish that eventually evolves into something terrifyingly wonderful. With this pâté, it originally began as just a simple river fish and some ordinary ingredients. Using a food processor, these ingredients evolve into something terrifyingly wonderful again. Just make sure not to eat it all at once, despite how tempting!
Step by Step Instructions
Step 1To start, place all ingredients in a food processor.
Step 2Pulse until a pâté forms which still has some texture to it and is not a purée.
Step 3Taste to check the seasoning as smoked salmon can vary greatly in its saltiness.
Step 4Serve upon toast or crackers with cucumber rounds on top.
